
The Nigeria Boxing Board of Control (NBB of C ) has demanded for the release of the two thousand dollars purse of the deceased Nigerian boxer Success Segun Olanrewaju and adequate compensation commensurate to his loss.
Speaking in Lagos on Tuesday , the President of NBB of C Dr Rafiu Olalere Oladipo stated that the body has demanded for the sum of two thousand dollars being the agreed purse between the late boxer and the Ghana Boxing board as well as commensurate compensation for him.
The President said that the body is also waiting for the release of the corpse of the late boxer to the body to enable it commence his burial rites along with his immediate family adding that this is consequent upon the autopsy being conducted by the Ghana boxing board.
He noted that the NBB of C is watching keenly the developments of thing regarding the boxer noting that the body will not fold its hands and allow things to deteriorate further.
Recalled that Success suddenly slumped and died in the boxing ring during a bout which he was leading on points between him and his Ghanaian opponent.
Thereafter the Ghana Boxing board said it was conducting an autopsy to ascertain the cause of Success death with the NBB of C accusing them of negligence pointing out that they failed to do the necessary medical test ahead of the ill fated bout where Success lost his life.
