A Non-Governmental Organization, the Agricultural Agenda Nigeria Initiative (AANI), has rolled out a program aimed at addressing Sustainable Development Goals ( SDGs) and eradicating poverty and hunger in Nigeria through a bottom–top approach.

Addressing the head of ICT personnel of each of the 36 States and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), and the coordinator of the organization in all the 774 Local government areas of the country , its National President, Amb.Ephraim Audu reiterated the need and importance of data collection and management as critical to the development of any organization as well as a nation.

Amb.Audu emphasized the importance of the agricultural value chain, food security, and job creation as essential components for national economic development through small holder farmers’ aggregation and agricultural extension programs.

He charged the head of ICT in each state to redouble their efforts towards capturing essential data from the local farmers so as to sensitise government and other stakeholders in agribusiness of the problems of local farmers.

“This will help the government of the day to appreciate and provide the needed assistance to develop this essential sector of the economy.

“AANI has lined up various capacity building programs to fortify the ICT personnel for optimal performance. He added

He urged the local government coordinators of AANI to educate and sensitize the local farmers on AANI’s operations and activities to fast-track food sufficiency, security and sustainability.

“AANI which operates under the watchword of “Farm Well! Eat Well!” is involved in activities geared towards creating a hunger-free society, transforming the agricultural sector into a key driver of income growth, food security, and employment opportunities.

“It intends to replace wood and fossil fuel-based energy with renewables, so as to improve and preserve soil health by enabling climate-smart farming practices such as precision agriculture and organic farming.

He appreciated all those who participated in the online meeting for all their responses and feedbacks, assuring every member of equal opportunities and patronage.
