In preparation for the event, the State Commandant, on Thursday,  March, 27 2025, visited Oyo Town to assess the level of preparedness of NSCDC personnel and to ensure that all necessary security measures are in place.

During his visit, he held a strategic meeting with the Area Commander, Area “E” Command, and the Divisional Officers under the Area Command, where he received briefings on security arrangements and gave directives for enhanced security operations throughout the coronation period.

Given the significance of this historic event and the large number of attendees expected, NSCDC will be deploying a contingent of about 500 highly trained personnel to provide security, ensure crowd control, and safeguard critical infrastructure throughout the duration of the ceremony.

According to a press statement with reference number NSCDC/OYO/PRU/Vol.1/068, signed by the Command’s Public Relations Officer Samuel Olubanjo Opebiyi, said the officers will be strategically stationed at key locations, including the coronation venue, major roads, and other critical areas in Oyo Town, to prevent any breach of security.

“Additionally, the  NSCDC is an integral part of the committee set up to ensure the successful conduct of the coronation, particularly in terms of security. The Corps is working in close collaboration with other security agencies to maintain law and order before, during, and after the event. These experienced officers will monitor activities and respond promptly to any security concerns.

“NSCDC remains committed to its mandate of protecting lives and property, and we assure residents and guests that all necessary measures have been taken to ensure their safety throughout the coronation festivities. We also urge members of the public to cooperate with security operatives and adhere to all guidelines for a successful and peaceful event.
