The President of Oyo Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Chief Wilfred Madu has implored the federal government to fish out the killers of Hausa travelers in Uromi, Edo state.
Recalled that some Uromi hunters allegedly killed no fewer than 15 Hausa travelers which they allegedly labeled kidnappers who were on a Dangote trailer from the northern part of Nigeria over the weekend in what has sparked condemnation from Nigerians especially northern Governors forum which want the killers found and prosecuted.
Speaking in Ibadan, the Oyo Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth President said the killers should not be mistaken or misconstrued as Igbo men as Edo people are not Igbo people but a different tribe and ethnic group altogether.
He explained that while he was in support that the perpetrators of the dastardly act should be found and prosecuted, he condemned the extra judicial killings carried out by the killers pointing out this was inhumane.
Chief Madu called on the Ohanaeze Ndigbo leadership to impress it upon the Hausa leadership and average men that the killers are not Ndigbo in line with the penchant of every northerner to believe that anyone from Edo downwards is an Igbo man whereas the reverse is the case.
He explained that this is necessary to prevent the killings of Igbo men and women in the north as the Hausa may be inclined to revenge the killings of the kinsmen at Uromi , Edo state by the hunters who branded the victims as kidnappers before killing them without recourse to justice.
The Ohanaeze Youth President said further that government should quickly intervene in the matter by arresting those involved in the extra judicial killings while Ohanaeze Ndigbo President Azuka Mbata should interface with northern Governors over the matter to avert the killings of Igbo in the northern part of Nigeria.
