The Progressive Real Approach (PRA), a group within the Oyo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has called on the party’s leaders to adopt a philosophy-based approach to building the party at the grassroots level.

This call was made in a communique issued and signed by the group’s Chairman, Hon. Thomas Supo Olayode, after the group’s monthly meeting held on Tuesday in Ibadan, the Oyo state capital.

According to the communique, “Nation building begins with party formation… Party formation at these times is a truly magnificent task which demands power, perception, perseverance and knowledge on the part of the leaders.”

The group emphasized the need for leaders to be well-informed and equipped with the right knowledge to meet their responsibilities to the people.

The communique also decried the monetization of the political system, stating that “the highest bidders have hijacked the entire political process, leaving the majority to become the pawns of these few manipulators. This uncivilized wave of attitude has dangerously compromised probity, propriety, integrity and virtues in Nigeria’s democracy.”

PRA then, advocated for an institution of politics that upholds the ideals of true progressivism, including bravery, love, and service to God through good deliveries to humanity, noting that “the success or otherwise of government is directly and openly verified in the living conditions of the people.”

In addition, the PRA congratulated APC party members and leaders on the successful outings in Edo and Ondo states, as well as the success of the Caucus and NEC meetings held in Abuja recently.

Urging Nigerians to continue supporting the All Progressive Congress, the group assured that the current challenges are temporary and would soon give way tor a brighter future.

It also urged the people of Oyo State to vote en masse and return the APC administration of A Renewed Hope at all levels, for greater developmental strides come 2027.

PRA’s emphasis on the need for an institution of politics that upholds the ideals of true progressivism can be seen as a timely hint on the importance of ethical leadership and good governance. As Nigeria continues to navigate the complexities of its democratic journey, the group’s call for a more philosophical and principled approach to party building is likely to resonate with many supporters of APC who are eager for a more transparent and accountable government.
