Chairman of Shooting Stars Integrity Supporters Club Akinade Okediran has implored the Oyo state Governor Engr Seyi Makinde to increase the monthly grant of their team apart from fulfilling the promise of a bus made to them in 2019.
Okediran made the passionate appeal on Tuesday while reacting to the issue of the team being delayed in Ijebu Ode, Ogun state on their way to honoring an away match against Enyimba Football club which ended in a 1-1 draw in Aba recently.
He reminisced that Governor Makinde made the promise on 2019 to the Supporters club while hosting the team along with them in 2019 while it was still gunning for promotion from the Pro league noting that the Governor fulfilled the one made to the Shooting Stars Football club while pending that of the club.
Okediran explained that since then Engr Makinde had yet to do anything about the bus promise stressing that a lot of time had lapse since then during which they could not follow Shooting Stars to distant journeys such as Aba, Kano, Enugu among others noting that they could only accompany the team to contiguous and neighboring states such as Ilorin, Akure and Remo due to their nearness .
He pointed out they were begging for this despite having to leave their home and work as well as various families to support the Oluyole Warriors whenever they are playing nearby arguing that this the only way for the Governor to compensate them with the bus gift.
The Chairman equally urged the Governor not to be weighed down by the reality of having to buy two buses at a time for both the team and the club noting that this is very minute and insignificant to the state helmsman as the number one fan and supporter of the 1996 double champions as he can comfortably do this from his own pocket.
Okediran also seized the opportunity to enjoin Engr Makinde to increase the monthly grant being given to the Shooting Stars emphasizing that the amount the team gets is inadequate as it is not enough to cater for the stupendous expenses of the 1999 league winner because of the fact that it is playing in the Nigeria Premier Football League ( NPFL) where the recruitment and payment of experience players comes with so much fund which the team can hardly afford given the financial resources at it disposal.
