The President of the Ohanaeze Ndigbo Oyo State, Chief Sir CSP Godwin Mba has described the election which ushered in the self styled Ohanaeze Ndigbo worldwide has a sham besides being null and void since the organizers had no right to conduct an election.
Chief Mba who stated this in Ibadan at the Obafemi Awolowo stadium formerly Liberty stadium noted that the organizers,the Senior Special Assitant to Governor Seyi Makinde Honorable Innocent Nwosu Tallest had no right to conduct an election as he came under the guise of midwifing peace and the unification of the factions of Igbo in Ibadan as public servants .
The President of Oyo Ohanaeze Ndigbo who was represented at the occasion by his Vice President Chief Ndidi Nzeako explained that Honorable Tallest came into the scene with a view to uniting the estranged factions of Ndigbo only for him to begin to talk about drafting a new constitution before reverting to election which he had no locus standi to conduct
since he and his town union are not members of the Ohanaeze Ndigbo of Oyo state.
Chief Nzeako said further that it was so absurd that a leader of a committee set up to negotiate peace among Ndigbo can begin to talk about one Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide outside being a member of the committee organizing an election to bring in a new executive of Ohanaeze Ndigbo when the existing one‘s tenure and term of office has not expired.
Chief Nzeako said further that it is noteworthy that Ohanaeze Ndigbo which he was trying to replace is still intact as the Igbo General Assembly (IGA) and the Imo State Towns Development Association (ISTDA) have both merged with the Igbo Community Development Association (ICDA) as well the people of Anioma of Delta state which Honorable Tallest was ostensibly trying to unite had settled themselves peacefully and united as Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Oyo state chapter.
He reminded that the body still possesses the court judgement adjudicated by Justice M.O Olagunju of the Oyo state high court of August , 2020 which declared Chief Ndidi Nzeako as the President of Oyo state Ohanaeze Ndigbo stressing that it should be known that no court of competent jurisdiction had set the judgement aside since them.
The Ohanaeze Ndigbo boss noted that it was absurd that the election supervised by one Chief Ozorwike from Lagos who claimed to be under the auspices of Ohanaeze Ndigbo headquarters never had the mandate or support of Ohanaeze headquarters at Parklane in Enugu State since the body’s constitution does not give cognizance to anything such as south west Ohanaeze as portrayed by the former.
He added that that the doors of the Oyo state chapter of the body is wide open whenever they want to return to the fold positing that the path they were toying will get nowhere but trouble at the end of the day.
He said it was wrong for them to be in politics as “political Ohanaeze” which the illegal body champions in spite of warnings from well meaning Ndigbo that they do not want anything like politics since it will be counterproductive in the future especially in 2027 during the Oyo state guber election as the Igbo would be perceived to be in a political party against the others.
