Obong Akanyak Calls for Cooperation, Peaceful Coexistence Among Akwa Ibomites in Oyo, Inaugurates New Officers, Community Leaders

The Obong Iberedem, Akwa Ibom in Oyo State, Edidem Etim Bassey Akanyak (ARSM) has charged the newly Inaugurated Community Leaders and  officers of Akwa Ibom under the aegis of Akwa Ibom State Community (AKISCOM) to be of good conducts and worthy ambassadors in their respective communities in the state.

The Monarch gave the charge at the coronation ceremony of community leaders and other officers held on  Saturday, February, 2025 at  S. Ade OJo Estate, Oke Okoto Street beside All souls Church Sawmill Old Ife Road, Ibadan.

The Obong, Edidem Etim Bassey Akanyak (ARSM) who was ably represented by the Vice Chairman, Elders Council, Chief Emmanuel Etuk said the officers and Akwa Ibom community leaders who were Inaugurated and presented certificates should lead by example in order to ensure that peace reign supreme in their respective domain and  communities in Ibadan.

“I want you all to see your new positions and offices as a call to service, and I want to encourage all of you to be role models and good ambassadors of Akwa Ibom in the  state, especially in your respective communities.

The monarch while thanking the elders council, the Youths and all the Akwa Ibomites for their cooperation urged them to continue to show love and support to one another in order to promote peaceful co existence among Akwabomites in the state.

In his address, the Youth Leader of Akwa Ibom community in Oyo State, Comrade (Dr.) Udoro Efre expressed gratitude to the  incumbent leadership of  Akwa Ibom community in the state led by  Chief Utibe Abasi Umoren for reappointing him to pilot the affairs of the forum for the next four years.

“Throughout my first four years, I made untiring efforts to ensure that we achieved sustainable peace and progress among our people in the state. This couldn’t have been possible without the cooperation and support  of our viable officers, community leaders and all stake holders of Akwa Ibom Youth Forum.

“I also thank our father , the Obong Iberedem, Akwa Ibom in Oyo state, Edidem  Etim Bassey Akanyak  (ARSM) and his cabinet for their unwavering support and fatherly  roles which has motivated the youths, and all Akwabomites in the state to have a sense of belonging.

” I recalled that we started the first coronation in the year 2020 with eight communities and today I am proud that we are celebrating sixteen communities of which the mantle of leadership and prayers will be handed over  to their leaders.

“During the period under review, I am proud to say that the efforts and team work of the forum is making Akwabomites residents in Oyo State to be more united than before”

Speaking further, Dr. Efre said in 2021, over sixty people benefitted from the free skill  acquisition training organized by the forum in the areas of Snacks making, Beads making, Liquid soap making, , Izal making, tying of Gele (head gear) , Make up and others.

“We have also trained two of our Youths, Miss Theresa  Malachi and Mrs Blessing Micheal in fashion designing, one of the them had completed training and gained freedom witnessed by the forum. The youth leader through the support of his brother donated an industrial Sewing Machine to empower her, while Miss Horo Ndaeyo was trained in the area of hair dressing.”

He added that the  seminars and workshops were organized on some thought out topic aimed at positioning their team in good shape.

He said: “Solomon Ajah and Comrade Ofonime Okon were trained on Solar and Inverter installation and repairs while six students who included, Samuel Augustine Edem, Goodness Patrick, Blessing Patrick, Ekomobong Ofonime, Marshall David, and Moses Sunday, benefited in National Diploma and Higher National Diploma scholarship program at Tower Polytechnic in Ibadan and  Igbajo Polytechnic, Osun State.

According to him, the forum had intercepted numbers of child trafficking victims used for prostitution and other vices adding that all the victims had been sent back to Akwa Ibom to reunite with to their families.

He thanked the elders especially, Chairman Board of Trustees, Tower Polytechnic, Ibadan, Chief  Barrister Idoreyin Ikpangeto, Mrs Lovet Anthony Elder Aniekan Inyang centre Director of Igbajo Polytechnic, Osun State for their efforts at achieving success for the forum.

Speaking earlier, President of the AKISCOM, Chief Utibeabasi Umoren thanked all Akwa Ibomites for their cooperation adding that at the starting, they came up with one point agenda of developing  Akwa Ibom Community in the state.

“I can say that we are waxing stronger by the day, all glory be to God Almighty. The Youths to be coronated today have a lot to do to develop themselves and Akwa Ibom community, so,  I urged them to be united and be effective in collaboration.

“The task before them is that of  quality leadership and representation, they must be on ground to ensure peaceful co existence of all Akwa Ibomites in their communities and ensure they work on the security of the various communities. I pray God Almighty will see you through, he added.

Highlights of the occasion was presentation of awards and certificate to some deserving members,  inauguration of state officers and coronation of community leaders and patrons.

Awards of Excellence was presented to Apostle Effiong Aniedi, Barrister (Chief) Idoreyin Ikpangeto and others for their unwavering commitment, supports and huge contributions to the development of AKISCOM in Oyo State.

State officers Inaugurated are : Comrade (Dr) Udoro Efre (Leader), Deacon Godwin Idung (Deputy Leader), Adede Godwin Ukombe (General Secretary), Pastor Godwin Simon (Assistant Secretary),Engr. Solomon Peter David  (Financial Secretary), Pastor Marshall David Allan (Assistant Financial Secretary), Mrs Utomobong Eze (Treasurer)

Others are Dr. Bassey Moses (P.R.O), Boniface Monday David (Provost 1), John Udoh (Provost 2),  Idoreyin Victor ( Welfare Officer 1), Mrs Ekaete Thompson ( Welfare Officer 2), Mrs Anthonia Ekpe ( Women Leader 1) and Mrs Emem Ekwere ( Women Leader 2)
