Addressing a press conference in Osogbo, on Monday the group Coordinator, AbdulGafar Blessing, emphasized that Osun West has been underrepresented in the state’s leadership, with the governorship seat primarily rotating between other districts.

The group argued that zoning the ticket to Osun West would correct this imbalance, ensuring a more equitable political landscape.

“The call to zone the 2026 Osun governorship ticket to Osun West stems from a deep-rooted desire for equity and balanced representation in our state’s political landscape.

“Over the years, the gubernatorial seat has rotated predominantly between other districts, leaving Osun West with fewer opportunities to lead and shape the developmental trajectory of our state.”

Meanwhile, the group urged Party leadership , notably President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Chief Bisi Akande, former Governor Gboyega Oyetola, Senator Ajibola Basiru, and APC Chairman in Osun, Alhaji Tajudeen Lawal, to consider the strategic benefits of zoning the governorship to Osun West.

The Osun West Crusader, held that such move would not only enhance the APC’s chances of reclaiming Osun State in the 2026 election but would also reaffirm the party’s commitment to justice, fairness, and regional inclusion.

“We are confident that the APC will win Osun State back if the ticket is zoned to Osun West. It would demonstrate our party’s commitment to just political processes and its dedication to fostering a unified state where every district’s voice is heard and valued,” the group added.

The Group stressed Osun West has not held the governorship position in the current democratic dispensation for 26 years. According to the group, rectifying this historical underrepresentation would reinforce the APC’s stance on fairness and inclusive governance.

“By prioritizing a candidate from Osun West, the APC would send a strong message of unity, demonstrating that the party recognizes and values contributions from every part of the state,” the statement continued. “Osun West has remained loyal to the APC but has not received proportional political rewards.”

The group their number later went to the APC Secretariat to submit their letter of request which was received by Director of Admin and Finance, Aremu Tajudeen who promised to deliver their message to the appropriate authority.
