Empowering the Future: ADJ ICT Center, Lalatech Transform Lives in Ifo Local Government Area

On October 2, 2024, the management of ADJ ICT Center, Olambe, in collaboration with Lalatech, launched an initiative to provide free ICT training to residents of Ifo Local Government Area.

This effort aligns with the center’s vision of offering intellectual empowerment to the community.

The Programme began with 40 enrolled candidates and was designed to equip participants with vital ICT skills. By the end of the program, 26 candidates successfully met the graduation criteria set by the NGO. They were trained in three key areas, which include Digital Marketing with 13 graduates, Web Design with 7 graduates, Laptop and Phone Repair Technology with 6 graduates.

The graduation ceremony, held on December 19, 2024, at the ADJ ICT Center in Olambe, Ogun State, celebrated these graduates. The event was graced by prominent dignitaries, including, Hon. Motunrayo Adijat Adeleye, Commissioner for Women Affairs & Social Development, Ogun State, Barrister Oluyide Oduwole, APC Party Chairman, Ifo LGA, Mrs. Bolanle Ojo, Vice Chairman, Ifo Local Government Area, Mrs. Funmilayo Adeniyi, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development and Hon. Samuel Bamgboye, Leader of the House, Ifo Local Government

Other are councilors, political representatives, community leaders, Religious Leaders and Rotarian ESV. Modeyin Bayo Kingsley the Irresistible President of the Rotary Club of Olambe.

The event commenced with an opening prayer by Mrs. Funmilayo Adeniyi, followed by an orientation from Mr. Omodele Oloruntoba, Head of the Training Unit at ADJ Forum. He highlighted the origin and impact of the ICT center, emphasizing its role in national economic development.

The programme  took a new turn when Hon. Motunrayo Adijat Adeyeye, the convener, addressed the audience. She shared the journey of ADJ ICT Center, explaining how the initial concept of physical empowerment was replaced with intellectual empowerment due to challenges such as misuse of resources by beneficiaries.

 She revealed that over 5,000 candidates have benefited from the initiative, with many securing employment, starting businesses, or improving their existing ventures.

Hon. Adeyeye also acknowledged the challenges the center faced, including vandalism during a past looting incident, which rendered it non-functional for some time. She praised the contributions of Mr.Olaniyan Shamsudeen Yinka , a graduate of the center and the current owner of Lalatech, for reviving the initiative. 

His voluntary facilitation efforts, combined with the leadership of the new head of training, Mr. Omodele Oloruntoba, ensured the program’s success.

The convener commended the top three graduates, awarding each a cash prize of ₦50,000. She pledged further support for the center’s sustainability and growth, urging the graduates to apply their new skills for personal development and community progress.

The event concluded with a photo session featuring the dignitaries, political representatives, and graduates, followed by light refreshments and entertainment.
