Rotary President, ESV Modeyin Charges Media Practitioners to Uphold Standards, Bags Oodua News Award

The President of Rotary Club of Olambe, Osaro Akute, Ogun State,  ESV Modeyin Kingsley Bayo, has urged media practitioners in Nigeria to maintain professional standards to protect the integrity of their profession and preserve its reputation.

He made this call in Ibadan while receiving the Award of Excellence from the management of Oodua News Newspaper.

According to ESV Modeyin, the media, as members of the fourth estate of the realm, play a critical watchdog role in society. He emphasized that maintaining ethical practices and professional integrity is essential for sustaining the credibility of the profession.

“The role of the media in any society cannot be overemphasized. They must be objective and uphold ethical standards to protect their integrity,” he said.

While expressing gratitude for the honor, ESV Modeyin commended Oodua News Newspaper for recognizing his contributions, describing the award as a source of encouragement.

“This recognition inspires me to focus more on human development and community service,” he remarked.

He also encouraged media houses to invest in the continuous development of their personnel by organizing in-house training, seminars, and providing logistics to enhance the editorial and reporting standards of their journalists.

Speaking at the event, the Deputy Editor of Oodua News Newspaper, Mr. Olubode Akinbode Johnson, expressed satisfaction with the awardee’s responses. He reiterated the organization’s commitment to maintaining high editorial standards.

He noted that since its establishment on September 22, 2001, Oodua News has been at the forefront of promoting the unity of the Yoruba race through factual and adequate reportage.

Earlier in his welcome address, the Editor of the newspaper, Comrade Richard Thomas, stated that the award was in recognition of ESV Modeyin’s quality leadership and unwavering commitment to humanity through the Rotary Club. He called on other Rotary leaders to emulate his example to advance the club’s mission.

Rotarian ESV Modeyin Bayo Kingsley hails from the illustrious Ilemila Royal Family in Kabba-Bunu LGA of Kogi State. A seasoned Estate Surveyor and Valuer with over 16 years of post-chartered experience, he has made significant contributions to real estate, property management, and valuation.

He is the Principal Consultant/CEO of Bayo Modeyin Consulting and the founder of MbKings Digital Academy Ltd. An academic achiever, ESV Modeyin holds multiple qualifications, including a B.Tech in Estate Management, and certifications in project management, facilities management, and entrepreneurship. He is a member of several esteemed professional bodies, including the Nigerian Institution of Estate Surveyors and Valuers (NIESV), the Estate Surveyors and Valuers Registration Board of Nigeria (ESVARBON), and the International Facilities Management Association (IFMA).

Since joining Rotary in 2022, he has served in impactful roles, including Secretary of the Investiture Committee, Director of Service Projects, and Chairman of the Disaster Relief Committee. He currently serves as the President of the Rotary Club of Olambe for the 2024/2025 Rotary year and has been elected Director of Membership for the 2025/2026 Rotary year.

A graduate of the Rotary Leadership Institute, Rotarian Modeyin has participated in numerous leadership training programs to enhance his capacity. His dedication to humanitarian service and youth mentorship has earned him several notable awards.
