Carol: Lagelu/Splash FM Honors Funmi Aragbaiye With Lifetime Achievement Award

The seventh edition of the Lagelu/Splash FM 2024 Christmas Carol was a grand celebration, highlighted by the Lifetime Achievement Award presented to gospel music superstar Evangelist (Dr.) Funmi Aragbaiye.

The event, held at Mauve 21, Ring Road, Ibadan, was graced by notable dignitaries, including the Chairman of the popular radio station, His Royal Majesty, Oba Adebayo Akande MFR, and other esteemed guests.

For Dr. Funmi Aragbaiye, it was a moment of self-fulfillment and recognition as the audience gave her a standing ovation during the award presentation. The segment featured and showcased some of her most beloved and inspiring songs, such as Sioni Ilu Ayo, projected on a large screen, evoking fond memories and energizing the audience.

The award was presented by Chief Dr. (Mrs.) Nike Akande, CON, OON, Iyalaje Iyalode of Ibadan land, the wife of the Chairman of Lagelu/Splash FM, in a ceremony filled with pomp and color.

In her remarks, Dr. Nike Akande lauded Dr. Aragbaiye’s remarkable contributions to gospel music, describing her as a beacon of integrity and pride in the industry. She noted that Dr. Aragbaiye’s music has resonated with audiences across generations and seasons, making her a deserving recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award.

“We thank God for the life and achievements of Evangelist (Dr.) Funmi Aragbaiye, who has positively impacted lives through her gospel music. This award could not have come at a better time. She truly deserves it, and I pray God continues to strengthen her,” Dr. Akande stated.

In her heartfelt acceptance speech, Dr. Aragbaiye expressed profound gratitude to Chief Dr. (Mrs.) Nike Akande and the Lagelu/Splash FM management.

“I am deeply honored by this prestigious award. It will serve as a source of encouragement and inspiration for me to continue my commitment to gospel music and humanity. I dedicate this award to God Almighty, the giver of gifts and glory since the 1980s, and to my mother, Chief Dr. (Mrs.) Nike Akande, as well as everyone here today. Thank you, and God bless you all,” she said.

The program featured captivating Bible readings and performances of Christmas carols by the Molete Baptist Choir, the Lagelu/Splash FM Mass Choir, and others. A standout moment was Ooreofe Sax’s remarkable saxophone performance, which enlivened the atmosphere and showcased her exceptional talent.

Dr. Aragbaiye consequently took up the stage and performed her wonderful songs to the admiration of the audience who echoed her songs along with her.

The 2024 Lagelu/Splash FM Christmas Carol will undoubtedly be remembered as a night of celebration, inspiration, and gratitude, marking another milestone in the legacy of gospel music and its shining stars.
