During the exercise with shovels and a shared commitment to environmental preservation, the team planted five healthy coconut seedlings on-site. Additionally, 35 seedlings were distributed to club members to plant in their homes or other chosen locations, where they would be nurtured to maturity. This initiative aligns with Rotary International’s area of focus on supporting the environment.

The event was graced by notable attendees, including the Irresistible President of the Rotary Club of Olambe, Rotarian ESV. Modeyin Bayo Kingsley; the President of the Rotaract Club of Iju Ishaga, Rtr. Khalilat Titilope Ibrahim; Assistant Governor (AG) Eyinfunjowo; Rotary Foundation Director of the Rotaract Club of Olambe, Rotarian Segun Ajao; and other devoted members of the Rotary Club of Olambe.

AG Eyinfunjowo in a heartfelt speech he delivered on the importance of environmental projects aimed at addressing global challenges said. “Each seedling represents a legacy of growth and resilience,  emphasizing Rotary’s critical role in championing sustainability.

Rtr. Khalilat Titilope Ibrahim commended the Rotary Club of Olambe for its foresight and dedication. She also collected seedlings for her community, underscoring the transformative power of collective action. “These seedlings will stand as a testament to our commitment to creating a better world,” she remarked.

As the seedlings were carefully planted in the soil, they symbolized a larger message: every small action contributes to a sustainable future. The project not only planted coconut trees but also seeds of inspiration in the hearts of everyone present.

The day was concluded with a renewed sense of purpose, leaving participants reflecting on their role in protecting the environment, just as the coconut trees will one day provide shade and nourishment, and  the impact of this project will grow, encouraging others to take bold steps toward a greener and healthier planet
