A grassroots organisation advocating for transformative leadership ,The Progressive Youths for Makinde’s Presidency 2027, has formally backed Oyo State Governor, ‘Seyi Makinde, as their preferred candidate for Nigeria’s presidency in the 2027 general elections.
The group, In an open letter addressed to Governor Makinde, signed by its National Convener, Prince Christopher Odianarewo and made available to newsmen, commended the governor’s exemplary governance, which they pointed out as a yardstick for progressive leadership in the country.
Furthermore, the group , while highlighting Governor Makinde’s achievements in health, education, agriculture, infrastructure, and security, cited his efforts in renovating healthcare facilities, empowering medical personnel, and providing timely responses to health crises, such as the COVID-19 pandemic, as critical strides that improved the lives of Oyo State residents.
In the area of education, the governor was commended for enhancing infrastructure, upgrading curricula, and providing scholarships that empower young people to excel on national and global stages.
“His administration’s initiatives in agriculture, particularly those supporting local farmers and ensuring food security, were recognized as pivotal for sustainable economic growth.”
The letter also acknowledged Makinde’s focus on social amenities, including the rehabilitation of roads and provision of clean water, which have significantly improved living conditions across Oyo State. Additionally, the governor’s innovative security strategies, including community policing and empowering local security outfits, were applauded for fostering trust and safety within communities.
“Given these monumental achievements, it is clear that Governor Makinde possesses the vision, dedication, and capability necessary for the presidency of Nigeria in 2027. His leadership has not only transformed Oyo State but also laid down a model of governance that is both progressive and inclusive,” the letter read.
The youth group reaffirmed their commitment to mobilizing support for the governor, expressing optimism that his leadership could usher Nigeria into an era of equitable growth, peace, and prosperity.
