Mr.  Soyinka was arrested on his return from United Kingdom around 5.40 am at Murtal Mohammed Airport Ikeja, Lagos  by operatives of the State Security Department .

In a press statement by Ogundipe stated that the clampdown on Journalists in the country under this regime is showing traces of return of a fascist government under President Bola Tinubu.

Said he: I am  not  disappointed but surprised that the intelligence agents under President Tinubu has return  to era fascism  under the military with indiscriminate arrest of Journalists in the country.

With Soyinka’s arrest, it is worrisome that  the continued deterioration of the freedom of the Press in Nigeria has been on the increase in the recent time.
