Oyo NSCDC trains officers for effective performance

The Oyo State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), has successfully concluded a two-day Induction Training for Flag Officers.

 The training, which began on Tuesday, August 20, 2024, and concluded on Wednesday, August 21, 2024, was organized for newly appointed Divisional Officers and Area Commanders.

The intensive training programme, held at the Area “A” Command in Iyaganku, Ibadan, is part of the State Commandant, Commandant Augustine Padonu’s initiative to enhance capacity building and improve the efficiency of newly appointed senior officers in discharging their duties with a high level of professionalism.

The comprehensive curriculum included courses such as Drills and Regimentation, Leadership in Law Enforcement, Effective Core Mandate Management, Effective Service Delivery in Operations, Contemporary Intelligence and Investigation Strategies.

During the closing ceremony, Commandant Padonu emphasized the importance of the training, saying, “The induction programme is crucial in equipping our newly appointed senior officers with the necessary skills and knowledge to meet the evolving security challenges in Oyo State. 

“We are confident that the training will significantly enhance their performance and contribute to the overall effectiveness of the NSCDC in the state.”

The Commandant further stressed the need for continuous learning and adaptation in the face of emerging security threats. He urged the officers to apply the knowledge gained during the training in their day-to-day operations and to maintain the highest standards of professionalism and integrity.

Following the successful completion of the training, the inducted senior officers have been posted to various formations, including Area Commands and Divisional Commands across Oyo State. This strategic deployment aims to strengthen the NSCDC’s presence and operational capabilities throughout the State.

As part of the graduation ceremony, each participant received a certificate of completion, signifying their readiness to undertake their roles with renewed vigor and expertise.

He said the NSCDC, Oyo State Command, remains committed to its mandate of protecting lives and property, as well as maintaining peace and order in the state, adding that the successful completion of this induction training marks another significant step in the Corps’ ongoing efforts to enhance its operational effectiveness and service delivery to the people of Oyo State.
