
The Chairman of Isu/ Okoma local government town Union and staunch member of Oyo state Ohanaeze Ndigbo Jerry Uzor has lauded the recent Supreme Court judgement which declared that local government should get their monthly federal allocation directly into their accounts.
Speaking in Ibadan,Uzor opined that the local government will now attract intellectuals and people of substance instead of what obtained before the Supreme Court judgement where the Chairmen were hand picked by state Governors .
He explained that with the judgement , elected local government Chairmen will know project that they will do which will have direct impact on the lives of the people of the local government adding that the Chairmen will also be able to manage the resources at their disposal judiciously instead of encouraging wastage.
“ This time,local government will see a tremendous growth and development compared to the past when someone who has never managed a million naira or has been unsuccessful in business is on the saddle “ he stated.
“It will see the best of the best because everyone knows that money is available for work and therefore will attract the best egg heads and intellectual” The Isu/Okoma boss observed.
He said further that “ the Chairmen will be able to do roads that have direct impact on the people rather than building fly overs and bridges and leaving their roads unattended to”
