Protest: Sabiganna Calls for Caution, Urges Government to Embark on Economic Intervention Policies

The Sabiganna of Iganna Kingdom, His Royal Majesty, Oba Soliu Oyemonla Tella Azeez, Agunloye IV, has admonished the federal government to be more sensitive to the needs of the people of the nation in order to achieve a progressive and peaceful country.

The highly revered Monarch gave the admonition at the instance of the protest scheduled to commence on August 1, 2024, urging the protesters to make the exercise a peaceful one.

According to him, government need to go back to the drawing board and put some economic intervention policies in place to cushion the hardship facing the people.

“The protest is the constitutional right of every citizen of Nigeria, but it should be carried out and implemented with good intent. Because with the way things are going, it shows some people are behind the protest and it should be done in good intent.”

“The protest is a reaction that the reforms of  government has not had positive impacts in the lives of the people, so, government need to stay focus and work on reforms that will improve the lives of the people” 

“Government should be more sensitive to the needs of Nigerians, and may be,  they need to go back to the drawing board in order to put things in good shape.”

Oba Tella Azeez who noted that the country is already tensed and charged  said there is the need for those involved in the protest to make the protest a peaceful exercise.

“The development is a global phenomenon, I have just returned from the United Kingdom, the situation over there too is not really good, so, the issue is not peculiar to us in this part of the world. Some African nations too are  facing the same situation, but I don’t think the protest is the solution to the issue at hand. We need to look inward for solutions.

The monarch said government need to embark on reforms with human face, such that will bring succour to the citizens of the country.

“It appears the parliative policies by the federal government is not working, they need to put up policies that will address the hardship facing the people, and government should find a way of subsidizing food and reduce the price of petrol price.”
