As part of activities lined up for this year’s Oyo 2024 World Egungun Festival, slated for Thursday, the Oyo state government has announced plans to honor the late Fuji king Sikiru Ayinde Barrister with a post- humous award
The state Commisdionervfor for Culture and Tourism, Dr. Wasiu Olatunbosun disclosed on Thursday during a Press conference held at the Press Center, Governor’s Office Secretariat Ibadan
The Commissioner who assured that this year’s festival will be unique as it would provide ample opportunities for upcoming Fuji and Apala musicians to showcase their talents.
According to him, the guest lecturer of the occasion is the Araba of Osogbo, Chief Ifayemi Elebuibon while attires to be adorned by every participant will be strictly native wears adding that the event will showcase the cultural diversities and tourism dynamics of the state
Dr Olatunbosun said further that the festival with the theme,Asa wa , ipile wa, ( Our culture, our heritage) will feature all types of masquerades that entertains and as well performs magic
He said adequate security arrangements have been made to prevent any breakdown of law and order assuring that the event will be a worthwhile one.
The occasion which holds at the race course, Lekan salami stadium , opposite Ibadan Recreation club is expected to attract tourists from all over the world as well as dignataries from all walks of life
The festival is packaged by Ibile Culture and Tourism Foundation in conjunction with the Oyo State Ministry of Culture and Tourism.
