Makinde swears in elected LG chairmen

Oyo State Governor ‘Seyi Makinde has sworn- in the newly elected chairmen and vice-chairmen of the 33 local government areas of the state declaring that there is no room for excuses for them to fail to perform as enshrined in the constitution of Nigeria.

The swearing-in ceremony was held at the House of Chiefs, Parliament Building, Secretariat, Ibadan.

Governor Makinde who was represented by the Deputy Governor, Bayo Lawal
urged the newly inaugurated council bosses to prioritize the needs and aspirations of people with a view to delivery good governance.

The Governor also advised them to bear in mind that upholding rule of law is key to democracy.

Earlier, the Commissioner for Local Government, Segun Olayiwola enjoined the local government chairmen to work assiduously with unwavering commitment to building a more virile local government devoid of acrimony or rancor towards building a better future for all citizens of the pacesetter’s state.

He appreciated Governor Makinde for his unwavering commitment and vision to make Oyo State stand head high amongst the comity of nations in order to compete favourably with our compeers all over the world.

In an interview,two council chairmen,Sikiru Sanda and Akeem Olatunji of Egbeda and Oluyole council areas promised to run an all inclusive government and reciprocate the good governance of Governor Makinde at the council areas.

Oodua News recalled that local government election was conducted in Oyo state on 27th April this year.
