Ogun Chief Judge Releases 3 Inmates

 The Chief Judge of Ogun State, Justice Mosunmola Dipeolu, has granted amnesty to three inmates in the state.

This was part of efforts to decongest correctional facilities throughout the state,

At the Ilaro Correctional Center in Ilaro, Ogun State, during a jail visitation and delivery exercise, the three individuals Joseph Apan, Nureni Oladosu, and Babatunde Fagbayi were freed from custody.

While bemoaning the poor state of detention facilities, Justice Dipeolu pointed out that the activity will aid in decongesting the prison.

She explained that the state cannot afford to have deaths due to overcrowding.

The Chief Judge promised prompt action to combat decongestion, pointing out that although courts strive to expedite cases, the core cause of congestion must be addressed.

She affirmed that some people had been awaiting trial since 2018, which she deemed intolerable.

In his remarks, Controller of the Correctional Centre, Mr. Saliu Adepoju, appreciated the Chief Judge and her team for their efforts to protect judicial standards
