Procure boxing ring for boxers- promoter urges Makinde.

A boxing Promoter Abimbola Adeoye has made a passionate call to Oyo state Governor to come to the aid of the state amateur boxers by providing boxing ring.
Adeoye who is son to the late Chairman of the Oyo State Amateur Boxing Association Emmanuel Adeoye made the appeal in Ibadan while observing the recent results of the Nigerian boxers at the just concluded African Games where the boxers picked a total of eight gold medals including five from the female and three from the male.
Recalled that Nigeria came second at the games with a total of 51 gold medals, 50 silver and 50 bronze medals.
Adeoye who also organizes the annual Emmanuel Adeoye memorial boxing tournament opined that boxing is a sport which government has not been investing on but had been getting returns adding that the returns would have been more of government had done the needful investment.


He therefore enjoined Engr Seyi Makinde of Oyo state to assist boxers procure at least one or two boxing ring to enhance the performance of the boxers noting that a boxing ring does not cost less than four million naira .


The Boxing Promoter said that it is appalling that the entire boxers do not have a ring where they have their boxing competitions stressing that the situation is antithetical to the growth of the sport in Oyo state positing that the existing one is in a state of disrepair such that it can not be of any use at all.
