
The Oyo State Commissioner of Police, CP Adebola Hamzat, psc, FICMC, fdc, Ph.D has assured residents of the state of comprehensive and adequate security during the public holiday marking the Eid-El- Fitr in the state.
This was as the federal government declared Tuesday, 9 and Wednesday, 10 of April, 2024 as public holidays to mark the Eid-El- Fitr celebration.
According to a release with reference number, AZ:5250/OY/PPRO/VOL.6 /226 through office of the command Police Public Relation’s Officer (PPRO), SP Osifeso Adewale (mnipr), adequate security measures tailored to specificities have been emplaced to ensure relative tranquility during and beyond the holidays.
The release stated further that the Command’s spotlight shall be beamed extensively across all critical infrastructure, places of worship, recreation centers, public spaces, financial institutions and all connecting routes and highways leading in and out of the State.
It reads further, “Consequent on the above and in line with Standard Operational Procedure (SOP), the CP has directed Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, Heads of Tactical teams and formations throughout the Command to lead security operations from the Frontline.
“These shall include, Intelligence led Motorized Patrols, Intensive Stop and Search, Surveillance routines around places of residence, National critical infrastructure and purposeful raids to rid criminal elements.
It said the Command has deliberately increased layers of supervision for its field operatives during the holidays and beyond, adding that this is deemed necessary in a bid to ensure optimal professionalism while duties are being discharged.
“Furthermore, while felicitating with Muslim faithfuls and the general public on the successful completion of the Holy Month of Ramadan, the Command has re-affirmed its commitment towards the protection of lives and property for all and sundry.
The Commissioner of Police while wishing the entire Muslim Ummah in Oyo State happy festivities, urged the people to be law abiding during and after the celebration.
