
The Otun Balogun of Ibadan land, His Royal Majesty, Oba Abimbola Tajudeen Ajibola has blamed the high spate of kidnapping, killings and other criminal acts bedeviling the nation to hunger and abject poverty, calling on president Bola Tinubu to take urgent steps to address the situation.


Oba Ajibola noted that the development since the commencement of President Bola Tinubu’s administration has rendered Nigerians to untold hardship.
The monarch who called on government and leaders of the country to take drastic measures to address the situation warned that the development may continue to worsen if nothing was done to address the menace.
Speaking in an Interview with Oodua News in Ibadan, Oba Ajibola who is the Chairman, Ona Ara Local Government Traditional Council said government need to understand the root cause of the problems which has led to kidnapping, and crimes and take steps to address them and also revamp the economy, adding that many of those engage in criminal activities took to crime for survival
“Government need to first identify the cause of the problems and then device measures to solve them.The people are really suffering and the economy situation of Nigeria has pushed many into all kinds of crimes, including prostitution and many others unwholesome activities.
“It is imperative that President Bola Tinubu should take drastic and urgent steps to address hunger and poverty biting the people hard, before things finally get out of hands.
“The president need to be sensitive to the cry of the people in order to save the nation, There is serious poverty in the land and he needs to find solution to the problem of hunger depriving the people of quality living.”
The monarch said aside improving the economy, the president need to strengthen the security architecture of the country by employing more hands in the Police and other security outfit. “For instance, the Amotekun security outfit and other local security outfit should be empowered and strengthened to complement the effort of the police, adding that security is a collective work of all.
“For instance, the perpetuators of the dastard killing of the two Ekiti monarchs including their leader were arrested by members of the Amotekun security, so, government should assist them in order to complement the police.”
The traditional ruler noted that President Bola Tinubu came into office with so much promises for Nigerians, but things are not the same as he promised.
“When Tinubu come into office, Dollar was eight hundred naira but today Dollar is N1,500. This has caused untold hardship for Nigerians. He needs to improve on forex exchange and every other thing that has to do with the nation’s economy in order to save the people.”
“When I built my first house, cement was one hundred and fifty naira but today it is seven thousand naira, prices of things in the market are so terrifying, the president need to work on control price for commodity and others to stabilize our economy.”
Oba Ajibola said among other factors that has crippled our economy is self induce spiral inflation, due to lack of price control, warning those behind such idea to repent in order to make the economy function normally and flourish again.
He urged president Bola Tinubu to employ capable hands to help improve on the economy of the country.
The monarch who recalled that the nation under regional government thrived, urged the leadership of the country to improve on the presidential system of government in order to make the country work again.
He commended the Olubadan of Ibadan land, Oba Mohood Olalekan Balogun Alli Okunmade II for setting up land grabbing and security committee to clamp on issues bothering on criminal activities in Ibadan land.
“Ona Ara Local Government has its own committee set up on security issues, the Olubadan has instructed other local government in the state to set up their own security committee to tackle security challenges, and issue of land grabbing and illegal mining.”
