Speaking on the theme, “Dynamics of Effective Communication at Working Places”, at a virtual workshop for the Administrators on Saturday, Samuel stated that, an organisation where the superiors create fears and shout while passing orders or messages to the subordinates is liable to negatively affect its revenue, stressing that such a situation causes in-house conflict and misunderstanding.

The seasoned administrator noted  that the top levels in hierarchy should embrace two-way communication, which encourages feedback and engagement from the lower cadre about the  missions and visions of the organisation, emphasizing that a good working relationship improves productivity and sails the boat of the establishment to its promised land.

According to him, “If you communicate in a hard way to your subordinates, there won’t be success, which may lead to conflict of interest within the organisation. Put down your ego and try to understand their temperament before passing messages to them

“Managing people requires sound communication skills. It is very essential for you as an administrator to communicate in the right way, if you don’t want to jeopardize your position. If your communication style cannot enhance and motivate your subordinates, then you are a failure administrator”

He urged the administrators to appreciate the efforts of the lower cadre while passing orders, and to avoid deriving joy from their weaknesses.

“You need to give them sense of belonging and create time to build a team” he added

Samuel, on administrators’ personal development, charged top officials to build their confidence and communication scheme, citing that many administrators often run away from taking responsibilities when called upon.

He said, “administrators ought to be good speakers, presenters and commanders of words. Getting yourselves prepared ahead of any impromptu tasks. Don’t dress anyhow to events. Because sometimes dressing passes wrong signals”

“Administrators and subordinates should focus on their primary assignment and get things done at the right time before delving into other irrelevant things.”
