…seeks collaboration with local, foreign investors to boost
The Special Assistant to the President on Arts, Culture and Creative Industry, Ayomide Adeagbo, has said the creative economy if well harnessed has the capacity to generate employment for thousands of youths in Nigeria.
Adeagbo who stated this in an interview with the newsmen in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital on Sunday reiterated the commitment of the Federal Government to collaborate with local and foreign investors to boost Creative Industry
He said Nigeria would soon be rubbing shoulder with other leading countries in the sector with the disposition of President Bola Tinubu to empowerment of youths.
The S.A said, “President Tinubu has the highest number of youths engagement in the political anals of the country. This is a further confirmation of his beliefs in the youth. If we focus more on our creatives as well encourage the practitioners by given them same platform as obtained in other leading countries, our professionals in creative industry will compete favourably with their counterparts across the globe.
“With the favourable policies of the present administration, it is easier for them to go extra mile as well generate more Internally Generated Revenue for the government. President Tinubu is also interested in collaborating with the creatives, so we can push Nigeria forward, change the narratives and all.
“The creative industry is a broad industry where tailors, chefs, carpenters and many others are considered creatives as much as writers, musicians and artists. During the course of our interaction with the creatives, they highlighted the fact that over the years, they have not had anybody to run to in government. They feel like government do not even care about them.
“This has been their major challenge, unlike people in other sectors who have one ministry or the other to run to when things are not working well. That is why the President after hearing the clamours of the youths and the creatives, decided to create the ministry.
‘We have hit the ground running with facilitation aimed at growth of creatives, collaboration between the government and creatives, advocating for favourable policies as well as diplomacy with embassies and cultural attachés to create a balance for the creatives so they can expand their brand beyond the shores of Nigeria.” He added.
