The third batch of Oyo State Covid 19 Action Recovery and Economics Stimulus (OYS- CARES) on labour intensive public works for youth development was declared open at Afijio Local Government by the Executive Chairman Hon. Sunday Akindele Ojo (SAO).

The OYS- CARES program is established to support the citizens who’s source of income had either been eroded or drastically reduced as a result of COVID 19 pandemic.


It was inaugurated in Oyo State on Thursday 12th January, 2021. Later, it was officially launched by the Federal Government on Thursday 20th of January, 2022 while the operation kicked start at state level nationwide.

According to Pastor Taiwo Durosaro who led the OYS- CARES team to Afijio Local Government, the Labour Intensive Public Work Agency for Youth Development is branch of OYS- CARES program where a successful applicant from age 18 to 48 will be employed for public works between 8am to 12pm daily and they will be receiving monthly stipend for the services rendered. After the orientation successful candidates will be deployed to various communities for public works.

The Executive Chairman ably represented by the Suppervisory Councillor for Education, Hon. Ogunlade Ademola appreciated the leadership of the Executive Governor of Pace Setters State His Excellency Governor Seyi Makinde for this initiatives of creating hope for the hopeless. “May God in His infinite mercy grant our amiable Governor more strength and wisdom to oversee our dear state”. The Chairman prayed.

More so , the council boss further charged the beneficiaries to be a good ambassador of Afijio Local Government, “You must be diligent and punctual at work ” the chairman stated.

In the same vein, the beneficiaries appreciated the Federal Government, Oyo State and the present administration of Hon. Sunday Akindele Ojo (SAO) in Afijio Local Government for this rare privilege while they promised to work within the lay down rules and instructions on the exercise.

Others in attendance are; the Head of Local Government Administration – Alhaja Amdalat Salau, the Director of Education and Social Services ably represented by her deputy Mrs R.A. Salami, all Unit Heads of Education department among others.
