President Bola Tinubu has described former Governor of Osun state, as a principled leader and core democrat
He stated this on Tuesday during the 85th birthday and launch of Adebisi Akande Foundation organised for the former gover held at the International Conference Centre, Ibadan.
President Tinubu who was represented by the Lagos state Governor, Babajide Sanwo-olu said
Chief Bisi Akandehas done so much for the country and the progressive family.
The President noted that whether in public office or in other engagements, Chief Akande brought honor and intergrity into the discharge of his rrsponsibilites
In a lecture, titled; “The Leadership Question: Prospects For Nigeria” the Vice President, of Nigeria, Senator Kashim Shettima, represented by Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Zulum, noted that Nigeria as a nation has potentials to be more developed with good leaders and mentorship.
The Vice President urged the people to take responsibility of leadership saying collective effort was needed to move the nation forward.
Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo state said one of the best ways of celebrating the Icons and luminary is is by their legacies is by examining tjeir thoughts and implementing them in a way that would benefits the people.
He described him as a very blunt and upright personality worthy of emulation.
In a remark, the celebrant, Chief Bisi Akande who could not hide his joy for turning 85th expressed fear on the unscruplous elements he described as new brand of vagabonds militating against the Progress.
Chief Akande challenged those in the position of authorities to be battle ready for these new brand of vagabonds accusing politicians of corruption, whereas they are the most corrupt drawing the Progress of the Nation Back ward
Some of the dignitaries who attended the ceremony include, the govenor of Ogun state, Dapo Abiodun, its counterpart from Ondo, Lucky Ayedatiwa, Abiodun Oyebanji of Ekiti, the representative of Osun state governor, Ademola Adeleke, the Minister of Power, Chief Bayo Adelabu and the minister of Marine and Blue economy.
Others are the renown politician, Tanko Yankazzi, representative of Olu badan of Ibadan, Oba Mohood Balogun, families, friends and political associate of Chief Bisi Akande.
Chief Bisi Akande who is the former governor of Osun state between 1999 and 2003 was born in Ila-Orangun on January I6th, 1939.
Highlight of the event is the unveiling of Bisi Akande Foundation which is to Foster Productivity and empowerment among the Youth and women, thereby cultivating responsible citizens and future leaders foe thd advancement of the nation.
