Oyo ANCOPSS President, Ojetunde highlights programmes to improve service delivery in secondary schools…. Lauds Makinde on education

The President, Oyo State chapter of All Nigeria Confederation of Principals of Secondary Schools (ANCOPSS), Pastor Ojetunde Abraham Mojisola has charged principals and teachers of Secondary Schools in the state to move to higher levels in the discharge of their duties in order to justify the essence of their service to God and  humanity.

Pastor Ojetunde gave the charge in an interview with Oodua News in  Ibadan while highlighting activities and  programmes of ANCOPSS lined up  to advance and improve the services of the body in the year 2024.

According to him, “we are expected to  move to higher levels because we believe that we are not only serving man but also serving God. We are looking forward to prepare students for external exams because we will be having the West African Examination Council (WAEC) and NECO very soon in the year, depending on subject domicile to individual school.”

Pastor Ojetunde who is also Chairman ANCOPSS South West lauded the state governor Engr. Seyi Makinde for according priority to the education sector, especially in the 2024 budget, saying, this development will further improve and strengthen the education sector in the year.

“We have a number of  programmes we are looking at in terms of progress ahead of us, a number of statutory programmes which will actually help members to be effective in discharging their duties and responsibilities in the year 2024.”

“Number one is training of members that is coming up in the month of March. Training of Principals in Oyo State that will bring effective delivery of their roles in the education sector.”

Pastor Ojetunde who disclosed that his tenure as ANCOPSS President, Oyo State. Chapter will end this year 2024 said  they are going to have state congress of all principals in the state in the year adding that they are going to have  a few National Executive Council meetings in February and another in July or August 2024.

“We will have what we call ELOOOO, a programme that will accommodate Ekiti, Lagos, Ogun, Ondo, Osun and Oyo States. At this programme, all the NEC members will congregate and lastly we are going to have National Congress and all the programmes are coming up this year. 

“We will also have State Executive Council meeting, bi-monthly meeting holding in February in Ibadan, all these programmes have been lined up to enable us discharge our duties and responsibilities as principals effectively and efficiently.”

Pastor Ojetunde while commending the state governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde for according priority to education sector, especially in the 2024 budget assured that the body will justify their roles by putting efforts in their services in the year 2024.

“To whom much is given, much is expected, our expectation is high, as much as we are  encouraged by the state government in terms of enabled environment, which will serve as a catalyst for principals to offer their best.”

Pastor Ojetunde admonished Principals to justify the purpose of their existence on the part of government, just as he urged government  to encourage them, assuring  that  there will be better results working under a conducive and optimal environment which will maximize productivity.

He described the governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde as the best of them all, adding that during the last Mandatory Continuing Principal Training (MCPT) the governor was given an award for being the most educational friendly governor by the assessment of the  entire South West and  approved by national body.

“On December 13, 2023, our governor was celebrated through his representatives at Lekan Aare Kakanfo Inn,  it was a day  where we showcased  the good performance of the governor.”

Earlier in his new year address to members,  Pastor Ojetunde had  humbly appealed for their continued support for the State leadership, saying with your cooperation, I can assure you that we will go farther and achieve more in 2024.
