
The Chairman, Ibadan Northwest Local Government area of Oyo State, Alhaji AbdulRahman Olanrewaju Adepoju has charged the people of the council to desist from acts capable of truncating the peace enjoyed by the people in the Christmas season.
The council boss gave the charge in Ibadan while felicitating Christians faithfuls across the council area and the state as a whole on Christmas celebrations, just as he urged them to desist from immoral acts that could truncate the growth of the society.
According to him, Christmas is a special festive period to celebrate the birth of the Lord Jesus Christ, hence all the teachings and lessons of the celebration must be imbibed by all and sundry.
“Part of the teachings of Jesus Christ as stated in the Holy Bible were love, peace, tolerance charity, perseverance, forgiveness among others. In this regard, everyone must desist from immoral acts that could tarnish their image as good christians,”
The Chairman who described moral decadence an act capable of reducing standard of a person, people or the society, said the rampant violence in our society such as sexual harassment and corruption have become an everyday occurrence and needed to the curbed.
Alhaji Adepoju used the festive season to implore residents of Ibadan Northwest Local Government, especially the youths to engage in self help projects that could bring development to the community rather than involving in nefarious activities such as stealing, burgling, pickpocket, money rituals, cyber crime popularly known as yahoo, fraud, kidnapping, prostitution among others.
He therefore called for cautions on acts that could bring disrepute to them and their family.
He affirmed that his administration has put all necessary security measures in place to ensure a peaceful celebration during and after the yuletide season.
The council boss congratulates Christians on the Christmas celebration, just as he admonished them to be at peace with their neighbors.
Alhaji AbdulRahman Adepoju also congratulated the state Governor, Engr Oluseyi Abiodun Makinde on his 56th Birthday celebration, praying God to uphold, sustain, protect, and lead him in the good path in order to move the state to higher levels.
