The Grand Council of Yoruba Youths (Aare – Apapo Agbarijo Egbe Odo Yoruba) has joined prominent Yoruba sons and daughters to mourn the demise of social critic and Ewi exponent ‘Lanrewaju Adepoju who passed on recently at the age of 83 and the son of late Alaafin of Oyo, Prince AbdulFatai Adeyemi fondly called “the gov” who died of diabetes at the age of 46 describing the duo as Yoruba heroes.

A statement by the President – General
Grand Council of Yoruba Youths , Comrade Awa Bamiji who described their death as a huge loss to Yorubaland appealed to the Yorubas to carry forward their torches of advocacy for a brighter future as best way to immortalise them

The statement read in parts : “After we are born into this World, nothing more is as certain as death, end of our individual lives, which only our
creator determines its time and nature.

“This is the main reason why we must always think about death every seconds and smartly take advantage of being alive at present moment to remember God and do something meaningful that could be left behind as our own legacy.

“When we are talking about self dedication and consistence in promotion of Yoruba Language, Culture and Heritage, late Alaafin of Oyo, Human Rights’ Activist and Religious Leader, Oba (Dr) Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi III, JP, OFR, LLD, and Ibadan born Human Rights’ Activist, Religious Leader, Accomplished Author, Gifted Poet and World famous Ewi Exponent, Alhaji (Chief) Olanrewaju Adepoju, Aare Alasa of Ibadanland, who died 7pm last Sunday, took it to the enviable heights and they were both rewarded with sound health, popularity, long lives and highly successful Children by Almighty God but Today, they are no more.

“It is now more painful that our Brother, Prince Abdulfatai Adebayo Adeyemi, a.k.a, G – Gov; Son of late Oba Lamidi Adeyemi III, who contested 2019 House of Representatives seat in Oyo Federal Constituency under People’s Democratic Party (PDP) but lost to his Brother, Hon. (Prince) Akeem Adeyemi, a.k.a Skimmeh of All Progressives’ Party (APC); immediate past Chairman, Oyo State Local Government Pension Board, also passed on early hours of Friday, few hours to his 47th Birthday at UCH, Ibadan, due to diabetes complication.

“His late father, Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi III and Alhaji (Chief) Olanrewaju Adepoju works were dedicated to making life of a common man on the street more meaningful.

My personal interactions with both late Kabiyesi and Chief ‘Lanrewaju Adepoju as Yoruba Youths’ Leader will continue to remain evergreen in my memory and few of us are aware that our Brother and Popular Ewi Exponent, Akewi, Akile Oro Akile Oselu Ayekooto, is the illustrious Son of Alhaji (Chief) Olanrewaju Adepoju and from Today on, we appeal to the general public to be addressing him “Ayekooto Olanrewaju Adepoju”, as our humble way to immortalise the late Hero

“From Allah we come, to Him, we shall return”, as we grieve over their deaths, please, let us carry forward their torches of advocacy for a brighter future as best way to immortalise them

“Rest on Yoruba Heroes!
