The wife of the Executive Chairman of Itesiwaju LGA, Mrs. Caroline Ayankemi Akintola has led the women folks in the council area on a campaign tour against gender- based violence.

The advocacy revolved round the need to do away with various violence that had in one way or the other been dished out to woman and girl-child in our society, some of which are rape ( sexual abuse) women battering, using children to hawk, and many other barbaric traditional practices and rites.

According to a statement by the Head, Information Unit of the council Oyeleye Toyese, indicates that the awareness rally moved from the Local government Secretariat complex to the palace of Olokaka of Okaka and moved to markets such as Ayo- oluwa and towobowo markets and some others in the LGA, educating people on the need to shun violence against women and girl- child in our communities.

Addressing the people at various center used for the campaign, Mrs. Akintola gave kudos to her Excellency, the wife of the executive governor of Oyo state, Engr. (Mrs.) Tamunomini Makinde for this great initiative and appreciated her efforts in making the awareness programme a reality.

She further advocated for vigilance on the part of our women and children who were proned to molestation and move against all forms of abuse towards the girl-child

The campaign train also had in attendance, the Director of education and social services, Ahaji Rasheed kola Salam, the Deputy Director of education and social services, Mr. Wasiu Oketunde, other unit heads, women leader and many other political office holders representing each political ward of the council.
