Vibrant Gospel singer, Evangelist (Dr) Funmilayo Aragbaye has cautioned gospel music singers against rivalry, petty jealousy and unhealthy competition, saying acts like these will continue to undermine the progress and unity of the industry.
Evangelist Aragbaye admonished them to embrace love, unity and mutual peace among one another such that will promote their well-being, personalities and strengthen gospel music industry.
Aragbaye who is apparently worried by what she described as petty jealous, rivalry, self centeredness, unhealthy competition said the development has been the bane of the industry over some time.
The delectable and versatile singer who has carved a niche for herself through songs like Sioni and many other popular songs said the industry has been undermined by envy, jealousy, rivalry to mention a few among gospel singers, saying, she has sang with many situations evolving in the country.
“Some of the problems causing disunity among gospel music singers include envy, petty jealousy, ego and unhealthy rivalry. I do not understand why there will be such things among those who call themselves servants of God in the work of the Kingdom.
“As Christians and gospel music Ministers there ought to love one another, and be good examples to others. There should be cooperation and mutual respect unto one another, only these virtues can strengthen the people and the industry. But the reverse is the case among Christian gospel singers in this part of the world. I think they need to mend their ways.”
Evangelist Aragbaye who warned that the development will destroy the industry if not properly checked, encouraged them to allow the Holy Spirit of God fill their heart and lead them.
“I have always been myself, and as an advocate of peace, I am urging you all to allow the Holy Spirit to lead you in your activities. Gospel artistes should develop their song and messages from inspiration of the Holy Spirit, this will make them have message of hope and salvation in their songs.”
“They should stop being worldly in their look and utterances. Gospel Singers are supposed to be role models and good examples in the society.
