Oyo LGSPB Reiterates Commitment to Pensioners Welfare

The Oyo State Local Government Staff Pension Board (LGSPB) has reiterated its commitment to the welfare of retirees of both public primary schools and local government.

The development was made known by the Permanent Secretary of the Board, Alhaji Lukman Akinola Muraina during an interactive meeting with prospective retirees teachers held today at the conference hall, secretariat, Ibadan.

He said  that the state government will not leave any stone unturned to ensure senior citizens are taken care of in the scheme of things.

Speaking at the meeting, the Permanent Secretary commended  the state governor, Engr Oluseyi Abiodun Makinde for payment of workers and pensioners salary on the 25th of every month among other welfare packages.

While explaining the purpose of the interactive meeting, Alhaji Muraina said the meeting was organised to enlighten prospective retirees on the procedure involved in the processing of files and emphasized that the Board never requested for bribe, or any financial inducement before processing retirees files or before payment of pensions and gratuity.

In his words ” we do not want anything that will tarnish the image of the governor of Oyo State. We discovered that some agents, touts are collecting money from prospective retirees especially at the Local Government Education Authority level. I want to advise you that you should not engage the services of any agent. We want to block corrupt practices during processing of files”.

He therefore assured them that he would engage the management of Oyo State Universal Basic Education Board on the matter 

In their separate remarks,. Nigeria Union of Pensioners, NUT wing Comrade Dosu Akinpelu and the Secretary NUP, NUT wing Comrade Tunji Ogunwale appealed to the prospective retirees to comply with the Permanent Secretary’s advice and  stop patronizing touts and agents in order to avoid financial exploitation.

Some of the prospective retirees Mrs Fadairo Caroline, Comrade Olajire Tajudeen Atanda, Mrs Olubunmi Adio and Mrs Adenike Amuda expressed appreciation to the Permanent Secretary for organizing the interactive  meeting to enlighten and educate them to avoid financial exploitation being practiced  by corrupt officials. 

Also, they prayed immensely for the governor, Engr.  Makinde for his kindness and concern for welfare of pensioners and prayed for greater heights for him.

Present at the interactive meeting were the Chairman and Secretary of  Nigeria Union of Pensioners,   Teachers Wing,  Comrade  Dosu Akinpelu and comrade Tunji Ogunwale respectively., Directors and Desk Officers of the Board among others.
