The Federal government has said that it is committed to economic reforms and investment in critical sectors that will overtime, help in stabilizing the Naira and enhancing the nation’s economic prospects.
The Minister of Information, Mohammed Idris made this known on Monday in his address during the official flag off of the Oyo State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists 2023 Press Week held at the Dapo Aderogba hall of the uniion, Iyaganku , Ibadan.
Idris, who was represented by the Director, Public Relations and Protocol Federal Ministry of Information, Mrs Omolara Esan at the event themed; Nigerian Economy: “Reimaging Education System For The Fifth Industrial Revolution”, said that the aim of the present administration is to bridge the gap between urban and rural areas of the nation and ensuring every Nigerian has access to accurate and unbiased information by educating the media sector.

He however, charged the media to continue to report current developments under the present government who has taken some bold initiatives towards ensuring the prosperity of the citizens and the nation.
Earlier in his address, Oyo State governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde, represented by the Commissioner for information, Prince Dotun Oyelade expressed his appreciation to Oyo State Journalists for their support to his government and for always understanding the agenda of the present administration in the state.
He averred that the state has move a step further from its predecessor’s achievement noting that the state education has been recognized as the corner piece of the present government.
Speaking on the theme , the guest lecturer, Professor Kehinde Kester from the Adult Education Department of the University of Ibadan, advised the Federal government to inject industry 5.0 which will involve the use of both human and robotics in industries to ensure human dignity and environmental sustainability in boosting the economy of the country
He also called for the overhaul of the school curriculum to reflect the present day demands from school leavers seeking for job opportunities.

In his address, ace broadcaster and former Ambassador to the Philippines, Ambassador Yemi Farounbi implored all journalists to display professionalism in their duties and to do more where there are lapses in order to articulate solutions to the numerous problems of the country.
Earlier in his address, the Chairman , Nigeria Union of Journalists, Oyo state council , Comrade Demola Babalola bemoaned the state of the nation’s economy charging the federal government to apply technology to change the economy of the country.
He ,however, called for revolution in the economy, education, welfare of all Nigerians and governance of the country.
