…as Igboora holds 6th edition of World twins festival

Oyo state governor ‘Seyi Makinde has reiterated his administration’s commitment toward providing good road network that will support tourism and expand the economy of the state.
Governor Makinde stated this on Saturday during the 6th edition of the Igboora world twins festival day held at the Methodist Grammar School, Igboora in Ibarapa Central local government of the state
Governor Makinde while highlighting the achievements of his administration in road construction said all the zones of the state will be linked up through quality road network to boost the state economy
He promised to link up the Ibarapa zone to Oke-ogun zone to boost economic activities in the area while also assuring to link up the zone to the state information network through the establishment of a government owned radio station in the area.
“Part of the take away at the twins festival last year was that I made a promise to include tourism in our roadmap for sustainable development, when it was out ,tourism is now one of the pillars of our economy. What this means is that if we begin to expand our economy through tourism, the economy of Igboora, Ibarapa central and Ibarapaland will continue to expand.
In Oyo state what we have done is to integrate our economy, we did not focus on Ibadan alone, we said we will connect all the zones so that the economy of the zones will be integrated
” Ibarapa zone will be linked to Okeogun zone, it has started , We want to create a fast pace economy and the only way we can link Ibarapa land into the wider linkage of the roads we have constructed is to link Ibarapa to Iseyin. When we were coming, we passed through Eruwa, lanlate to Maya, we evaluated the road from Igboora junction to Iseyin. Though it’s a federal road, like that Oyo to Iseyin within the next two weeks I will write to the federal government and I will ask them to give us that road to fix
So, in the life of this administration and within the shortest possible time, of course they will go and do the survey and tell us what we need to do , but I will under this administration, award construction, and deliver a solid link between Igboora junction to Iseyin and by so doing, there will be a solid link between Ibarapa land and the center of activities.
“You may not know the meaning of that road , the meaning is that immediately, Ibarapaland is also linked to ogbomoso, Oyo and Okeogun zones.
“You have seen the ongoing road construction from Ido to Eruwa, we didn’t stop there , we are also creating a link from Ido to Om-iAdio which means anyone living in Eruwa and Igboora that wants to board a train to Lagos to do business will do so between one hour or one hour and then minutes
“On the request for the establishment of a Twins FM radio station in the area, Governor Makide said the Broadcasting Corporation of Oyo state will be directed to do the survey and Ibarapa land will be connected to the information network of oyo state .
The governor had earlier expressed his gratitude to the people of the zone for their support during the electioneering promising that his administration will continue to give what is due and just to the zone .
In his address, Chairman, Ibarapa-East local government, Prince Adeoye Oloyede, described twins as a God gifted resources to Igbo-Ora, just as he commended Governor Makinde for giving it a deserved recognition.
In their remarks, the initiators of the festival, Ambassadors Taiwo and Kehinde Oguntoye noted that the frequency of multiple births in Igboora, Oyo state has continued to put the state in global light, realizing this potential, Oyo state government observed and celebrated the annual Igboora Twins festival to attract more tourists into the state.
In his address the commissioner for culture and tourism Dr Wasiu Olatunbosun said this year’s Igbo Ora world twins festival was a fulfillment of governor seyi Makinde’s electioneering campaign promise to recognize the great town whose uniqueness is in multiple births, adding that the next year’s edition of the twins festival would be extended to all the six geographical zones in the state with the grand finale in Igboora.
In his remarks, the Olu of Igboora Oba Jimoh Titiloye and the Chairman of Igboora Community Foundation, Mr Adebisi Adeniran lauded Governor Makinde for promoting the festival as a means of tourism in the state and used the opportunity to clamour for the first twins resort in the world to be established in Igbó-ọrà
The famous twins in African tourism and initiator of world twins festival, twin Ambassadors Taiwo and Kehinde Oguntoye also lauded Governor Makinde for opening and fixing the different routes leading to Ibarapa, noting that it would increase the number of the festival’s attendees subsequently
Other highlights of the event includes twins parade, cultural display among others
Governor seyi Makinde had earlier in the day, declared open the Ibadan Golf Club 8th Seyi Makinde Women Support Pro-Invitational and Amateur. Open Golf Championship 2023 at the Ibadan Golf course, Sabo area , Ibadan.
The governor performed the T-off to declare the games open alongside the lady captain of the Ibadan Golf Club, Oluwatunmise Dorcas and the Captain of Ibadan Golf Club, Tunji Oladosu
