In a heartwarming event that filled the air with joy and hope, the National Headquarters of La Vie Mot Global Mission, also known as Living Word Mission (LIWOM), located on UMC, College Crescent, Molete Road, Ibadan, witnessed a remarkable empowerment programme in collaboration with APIN Public Health Initiatives.

This momentous occasion took place on Tuesday afternoon, gathering representatives from both APIN and LIWOM, community leaders, caregivers, beneficiaries, and their parents.

Following the age-old adage, “It’s not enough to give fish; teaching people how to fish is the key to eradicating or alleviating poverty,” LIWOM and APIN Public Health Initiatives took a significant step in transforming lives.

The Country Lead for Living Word Mission, Marcus Williams, shared his enthusiasm, stating, “We have been committed to this noble cause for an extensive period, and we will continue our efforts to drastically reduce poverty. With divine grace, we have selected twelve individuals from our project sites in Ibadan to benefit from this empowerment program, which has cost us more than a million Naira. We express our heartfelt gratitude to our sponsor, APIN Public Health Initiatives, for their unwavering support.”

In his remarks, Mr. Abdul-Razaq Ademola, a community leader in Ibadan South West local government, spoke of his longstanding association with LIWOM. “Living Word Mission has been performing wonders for over three decades, and I pray that the Almighty God continues to strengthen them and APIN. Even without our prayers, the spirits of today’s beneficiaries and their families will continue to prosper.”

Mrs. Akinola Temitope, representing APIN Public Health Initiatives, highlighted their enduring partnership with Living Word Mission, stating, “We have been engaged in commendable projects of this nature with Living Word Mission for a significant period. Today, we are here to empower the adolescents we initially trained in various vocations, enabling them to establish their own businesses. Those who learned tailoring received complete sewing machines, while hairstylists received dryers, and aspiring barbers received essential equipment.”

She urged the beneficiaries to make the most of these resources for a better livelihood, emphasizing that APIN would return for monitoring, potentially leading to additional empowerment if the equipment provided is used effectively.

Parents of the beneficiaries, represented by Mr. Akinyemi Jacob Kehinde from Okeho, Kajola local government, and Mrs. Ganiyat Tolase and Mrs. Asanat Sanusi from Ojoo, Akinyele local government, couldn’t contain their joy. They expressed profound gratitude to LIWOM and APIN for considering their children worthy of this life-changing initiative.

Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Akindele Fathia conveyed her heartfelt thanks and promised to use the resources wisely. She offered prayers and urged LIWOM and APIN to continue their exceptional humanitarian services, giving hope and opportunities to those in need.

The collaboration between LIWOM and APIN Public Health Initiatives continues to shine as a beacon of hope, empowering the indigent residents of Ibadan and setting a path toward a brighter future for all.
