A consummate businessman and the Maye Balogun Babalaje of Ibadanland Chief Ayo Folorunso has advised the federal and state government to monitor the distribution of palliatives to the poor in Nigeria.
Speaking in Ibadan, Chief Folorunso also known as Ayo Onike stated that the project is not yielding the desired results because the people in the rural areas are not benefiting from the palliatives.
He observed that most of the roads leading to these areas are not accessible because of poor or lack of maintenance hence the inability of the distributors to do a very thorough job.
The Maye Balogun Babalaje of Ibadan land said further that in some cases the distributors may single handedly keep the items to himself or herself thereby presenting it from reaching the people who are supposed to be the beneficiaries.
He opined that the lack of data of people is another factor militating against the project adding that what to do is for Governors to monitor its distribution so that it will get to the grassroots.
“ In this case , I urge Governor Makinde to seriously monitor this distribution of this items so that the very poor can be able to benefit from this palliatives “ Chief Ayo Onike pointed out.
He also advised that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu should also desist from giving the states the same amount of palliatives noting that the idea of giving five billion naira and one eighty thousand tones of grains to every state is not good since they don’t have the same population.
“ There are some states such as Gombe and Ebonyi with fewer local government and with less population getting the same amount with some like Oyo, Lagos,Delta, Kano, Borno and Rivers states which have large populations and this is unfair”
