Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde has been described as the encyclopedia and curriculum of Oyo State Politics, owing to his deep commitment to the progress and development across the state.
The commendation was given by former Commissioner, Oyo State Universal Basic Education Board, (SUBEB), Honourable Oluwaseun Oyewo, while lauding the governor over his strides and leadership qualities which has made him a quintessential figure in the state politics, and also earned him the moniker of “The Encyclopedia and Curriculum of Oyo State Politics.”
Oyewo, who hails from Afijio Local Government in Oyo Federal Constituency, Oyo State said the politics of governor Makinde has been of a deep commitment to the progress, inclusivity, and dynamic leadership, saying his tenure has been marked by transformative initiatives that have left an indelible mark on the state.
“Since the emergence of Governor Makinde in 2019, he has shown unwavering dedication to the development of the S
state. His political journey began long before his governorship, with a background in engineering and business. This unique blend of skills has proven invaluable in addressing the state’s challenges, from infrastructure to economic growth.
“Governor Makinde’s political career has been defined by his commitment to transparency and accountability. His administration’s budgetary transparency initiatives, which involve publishing the state’s financial statements online, have set new standards for open governance. These efforts have earned him widespread acclaim as a champion of good governance and the encyclopedia and curriculum of Oyo State.
“One of Governor Makinde’s flagship projects is the ambitious ‘Roadmap’ for accelerated development in Oyo State from 2019-2023.’ This comprehensive plan covers critical areas such as education, healthcare, agriculture, and infrastructure. Notably, his administration’s focus on education has been remarkable, with a significant increase in funding for schools and the launch of the “Oyo State Education Policy Trust,” aimed at enhancing the quality of education.
According to him, governor Makinde’s political ideology also centres on inclusivity and social welfare, adding that his administration has implemented several programmes to support vulnerable groups, including the “Oyo State Health Insurance Scheme” and the “AgricOyo” initiative to boost agricultural productivity and create jobs.
“His contributions, achievements is commendable and political affiliation with the federal government. His laudable programmes in the state have significantly improved the lives of countless citizens across the state.”
Oyewo commended the governor for creating space for youths in his administration, adding that the young members Hon. Busoye Ogunlade (OYSTROMA), Hon Wasilat Adegoke, Commissioner, Youths and Sports and the Speaker, Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon Adebo Ogundoyin have continued to be inspiration to other youths in the state.

On security, Oyewo said the governor has not hesitated to take bold steps to ensure the safety of residents of the state, hence ,his investment in the establishment of the Western Nigeria Security Network (Amotekun) and collaborated with other stakeholders to combat crime and maintain peace.
He said Governor Seyi Makinde’s leadership has not only made him a symbol of progressive governance but also a mentor and guide for aspiring politicians in Oyo State, adding that his commitment to the state’s development and his ability to bring about meaningful change have made him an inspiration to many.
As the “Encyclopedia and Curriculum of Oyo State Politics,” Governor Makinde’s legacy is already deeply etched in the annals of the state’s political history. His dedication to progress, inclusivity, and good governance will undoubtedly continue to shape the future of Oyo State for years to come.
