Former Shooting Stars Football Club Vice Chairman Orisetimehin Eweyeju has advised the team to seek for sponsorship to augment what the state government gives to the it monthly.
The state Government led by Engr Seyi Makinde gives a monthly grant of twenty five thoi thousand naira (#25m) to the 1975 African Cup Winner champion which the team spends in paying salaries and other financial benefits to the players outside organizing home and away matches.
Against this background, Eweyeju who was on the board of the 1996 double champion stated the amount from the government needs to be augmented by the management of the Oluyole Warriors which get #25m monthly.
He explained that sundry expenses such as camping allowances, winning bonuses and contingencies fees would required extra fund adding the team which has been in and out of relegation would have to emulate the likes of Enyimba International Football Club of Aba and Remo Stars Football Club which have procured sponsorship to compliment the grant from Abia State government and Kunle Soname respectively.
Eweyeju noted that the team also required fund to get quality players into its fold noting that what it gets from the state government can not enable them to do since the players need bogus salaries and allowances for them to perform optimally.
He pointed out that he however sees the Oluyole Warriors playing in any of the CAF organized matches such as the Champions League and the CAF Cup as the team will qualify for either of them.
The former Vice Chairman posited that his reason is based on the fact that Shooting Stars has an experience and seasoned coach in the mold of Gbenga Ogunbote who knows what to do regarding the Nigeria Premier Football League and how the 3sc can be successful in it.
