Oyo Labour Veterans Induct Olubadan As Grand Patron

An umbrella body of former labour leaders under the aegis of Oyo State Veterans Association has  inducted the Olubadan of Ibadan land,Oba (Dr ) Lekan Balogun  Alli Okunmade ll as the grand patron of the association.

The event took place at the Alarere palace of the monarch, Iwo Road, Ibadan on Thursday, 27th July, 2023.

The union,was established in 2021 to foster harmonious relationship among the retired civil and public servants in the state as well as an advisory body to the existing labour Industrial Union in the state .

In his remarks, the president of the Association, Ibrahim Bolomope ,declared that the monarch was the first in the history of royalties in Ibadan to emerge from the labour and workers platform, giving both his career and labour choice in trajectory.

He emphasized that,the investiture is in retrospect of the immense contributions to honor Olubadan whose passion for the masses is second to none and borne out of his Marxian philosophy.

He further reiterated, that the association is the first of its kind to promote welfare of members as well as encourage active social life of the aging ones .

Speaking on the development, the President -General of the Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCII), Barrister Ajeniyi Ajewole thanked the association for their impacts to serve the people, stressing that, the honor is another clarion call to serve and solicited for their support in the overall interest of Ibadan land.

He commended the association for deeming it fit to honour the monarch in recognition of his gestures while in the Senate and other public offices. 

“Kabiyesi, the Olubadan deserves the honour for his gestures and fatherly roles in the land, I also commend members and the leadership of the association for honour and respect for our father. I  thank all of you.”

The programme witnessed presentation of award and others to the Olubadan.

The  occasion had in attendance veteran Journalist Comrade Cosmos Oni, Chief Justina Titilola Raimi, Comrade Olu Abiala, Oyo NLC chairman, Comrade Kayode Martins and host of other members.
