A Lawmaker  representing Oluyole State constituency in the 10th Oyo State House of Assembly, Honourable Waheed Akintayo has assured members of his constituency of prompt dividends of democracy in his  administration.

Hon. Akintayo fondly addressed as  “Ilumoka Presenter” gave the assurance while speaking on his arrangements to put smiles on the faces of about 500 members of his  constituency and his decision to enrol them for health insurance scheme.

According to him, the scheme will be organized  in partnership with the Oyo State Health Insurance Agency (OYSHIA).

The legislator made the  disclosure  after he met with the Executive Secretary of Oyo State Health Insurance Agency, Dr Sola Akande and other Executive members of  the agency to discuss the modalities and modus operandi of the proposed Health insurance scheme for residents of his constituency in Oluyole local government area.

Hon. Akintayo who is the Chairman House Committee on Media and Public Affair described the meeting as fruitful as they were able to have lengthy discussion on the proposed benefits and success of the programme billed for Thursday, 17th August, 2023 as the official flag off while preparations towards its commencement takes immediate effect.

Said he, “My aim is to provide quality free  health scheme for members of my constituency, especially the elderly ones who cannot afford quality health services due to the present economic condition in the country.

” There are many people especially the  elderly ones who need medical care, but only a few of them can afford it. Knowing the state of the country today, it is even difficult for some to find food to eat not to talk of taking care of their health challenges.

According to him, the health programme is in line with his electioneering promises, adding that he embarked on the scheme  based on his belief  that health is very important and it is only those who are healthy that can work or think of doing any other thing.

He expressed the belief that when the scheme commences, the target beneficiaries of the health insurance scheme will be able to take care of their major health issues, thus reduce the number of people that are dying prematurely for not having the financial capacity to take care of themselves.

Responding to the development, Dr Sola Akande lauded the gestures of the  lawmaker to sponsor members of his constituency in the health scheme, urging politicians and other members of the parliament to emulate his good gesture.
